Snow
Winter's first snow by Tammy Brown ©
So beautifully white
It fell through the night
Like a blanket covers
Above quietly hovers
One from which it fell
Gray clouds now pale
Winter wonderlands
Snugged gloved hands
Hat tightened over ears
Those slip on boots near
Out to see how deep it is
Inches of total pure bliss
Sink up to the knees
Out for only awhile
Back in by the fire
Warm up those toes
Winter’s first snow

Reminds me of growing up in the Midwest
This felt like being caught in that very first snowfall—where you step outside all brave, sink straight to your knees, and immediately reconsider every life choice before racing back in for fire-warmed toes. Winter really knows how to tease us.
