Bartender's Secret
'Pumpin Sunshine' by Tammy Brown ©2000 revised©2025

On the weekends,
I’m the first one in.
Turn on the lights,
Set it up right
Everything’s in place
Check my face
Pour a shot,
Down it hot,
So I can be
Who I need be;
A doctor, a lawyer,
A psychiatrist too
Listen to your white lies
Hear all about your life
While scanning the room
And I’m entertaining you
All from behind this bar-
Don’t forget my TIP JAR!
Sunsets, Tequila Sunrise,
No, we don’t have moonshine.
Margarita, Hurricane, Jell-O Shots,
Coffee cold or coffee hot.
Pour a shot, Pass a beer
Tell you what I think
As I mix your drink
Tonight you’ve got
My time for awhile
Just so you realize
I’m just trying to make you smile
You can have a fun time
Out in the dance line.
Sweat it out on the dance floor
At this bar, I’ll mix more
A fresh squeeze of lime
Just like you like
I’m here for you
Give me the news
Or I’ll give you mine
I heard through the grapevine.
You didn’t hear it here,
Pour a shot, Pass a beer
Mix it, shake it, it’s a shot
All my time, is what you’ve got
From behind this bar I’ll smile
And wipe it down with my towel
And I’m pumping sunshine
just to make you smile
But the line I draw is
When I cut you off alcohol.
Closing time, make your way out,
Bar’s closed, I count it out.
All cleaned up, lights off,
Tips you gave, helped pay my way.
Hope you had fun, Thank you.

Stellar 🥂 if this was somehow merged with the bartending experience I’m sure the tip jar would filleth over — amazing poeticism
As someone who spent almost a year behind the bar, I can't help but note that this description is very authentic. I'm impressed by how you turned it into poetry. <3
